RSVP's Mission

Couple Walking

Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don't have to     have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your     subject and your verb agree to serve....You only need a heart full of     grace. A soul generated by love. - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Our Mission

Our mission at RSVP of Yellowstone County is to connect adults, 55+, to critical identified community needs. Through volunteering, these boomers and other older active adults enjoy social interaction while continuing to use their wisdom, experience and skills to impact their communities.

History

Established in 1971 and now one of the largest senior volunteer organizations in the nation, RSVP engages over 500,000 individuals nationwide age 55 and older in a diverse range of volunteer activities to help local communities meet clearly identified critical community needs. There are no restrictions based on education, income, experience, race, gender or physical limitations. In 2005 448,133 individuals reported volunteering 66 million hours through 755 communities and helping 62,600 local workstations in the neighborhoods in which volunteers live.

Impact

Serving Yellowstone County since 1974, our active RSVs range in age from 55 to 100. Currently, RSVP has approximately 750 volunteers who have donated over 100,000 hours of service to 120 local organizations and agencies in our community during the past year.

Volunteers provide a variety of services including, but not limited to:

Funding

RSVP's funding base comes 70% from a federal grant authorized and awarded by Congress annually through the Corporation for National and Community Service, and 30% through our local sponsor, The Yellowstone County Council on Aging. RSVP of Yellowstone County must also fundraise in order to maintain the program, and requests donations each spring for the annual Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Event.
